Building Update: Laying a foundation for Memory Personal Care at Valley View
October 29, 2025

Below: Dementia Friends Champions Nicole Sarver and Geli Losch from Valley View Retirement Community facilitated information sessions for Valley View team members, the greater community, and another local retirement community. In all, the sessions helped over 200 people in Mifflin and Juniata Counties become Dementia Friends.
Our renovation project has now reached the two-thirds mark, and we are excited to see the vision steadily coming to life. These updates are not just about refreshing our current spaces but are laying the foundation for a new service on our campus: Memory Personal Care.
This addition strengthens our mission and meets a growing need within our campus and the larger community. To prepare for this important step, Valley View has made a commitment that every team member, no matter their role, will receive Dementia Friends recognition.
Dementia Friends is part of a global, national, and state movement designed to equip individuals with a deeper understanding of dementia. It provides tools for effective communication, promotes dignity and respect, and works to remove the stigma often associated with the diagnosis. By engaging in this initiative, we strengthen our care practices on campus while also inspiring positive change in the greater community.
