Over the past year, Valley View has been honored to build new connections and deepen long‑standing relationships with government leaders, local churches, researchers, and community organizations. These partners may look different—from local Mennonite congregations to Penn State’s Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence—but they share a common purpose: meeting the growing needs of older adults in Central Pennsylvania. We look forward to continuing these conversations as we work to make our region a leader in services for older adults and memory support.

Kirk Thomas served as the Chief Administrative Officer for Geisinger Western Region before he retired, capping off a career of 39 years in healthcare. In the midst of what he calls a “what’s next phase,” he is investing his time in ministry work—including a brand‑new term on Valley View’s board of directors. We sat down with him to talk about his new role and how he sees connection and purpose lived out at Valley View.

This spring, Big Valley Thrift & Gift made a historic $20,000 gift to Valley View’s Benevolent Fund. The donation reflects the thrift store’s mission to share God’s love and compassion both locally and around the world, and it also is testament to the deep connection that the store has had with Valley View across the decades.

Valley View is a proud supporter of Burnham Youth Sports Association this season. The sports league, which is part of the Big Valley Little League, has two softball teams and two baseball teams. The league has over fifty young athletes from Burnham, Lewistown, and Decatur between the four teams.
