Valley View Retirement Community begins expansion for memory care, private nursing rooms
November 26, 2024
Key improvements include new infrastructure, private rooms, and most significantly, a new dedicated memory personal care neighborhood.
This September, Valley View Retirement Community embarked on a significant renovation project, with a completion date of early 2026. Key improvements will include more private rooms, major enhancements to shared spaces, new electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, and, most significantly, a dedicated Memory Personal Care Neighborhood to better serve those with cognitive needs with plans to open in Summer 2026.
The current expansion project will not break ground, but instead update the wings of the current building with new infrastructure and enhancements to upgrade existing levels of care and offer expanded memory care services. The $13 million project is now underway with a financing package by The Juniata Valley Bank, which participated in the loan with Kish Bank and MCS Bank.
“This project is an exciting step forward for Valley View Retirement Community and will address the feedback and requests we have received from current residents and those in search of memory services,” CEO Nicole Sarver stated.
She noted that the expansion project was in response to residents’ desire for personal space, along with a market study that discovered unmet needs in memory care in Central PA. The renovation will create a Memory Personal Care Neighborhood with 21 private suites with a newly designed outdoor courtyard and will be located in the same building as Memory Lane, Valley View’s current 21-bed skilled nursing memory care.
Within skilled nursing, renovations will include renovated resident rooms, hallways, lounges, dining rooms, and nursing care stations.
“While there will inevitably be some level of disruption during the renovation period, we are committed to minimizing any inconvenience,” Sarver stated. “We believe the long-term benefits of this project will far outweigh any temporary challenges.”
