In response to a growing need for memory services in central PA, Valley View will soon be opening Memory Personal Care, a personal care neighborhood that offers studio apartments and specialized supports for persons living with dementia including assistance with activities of daily living as well as providing access to medical care and therapy, delicious meals, enriching activities, and more. Memory Lane meals

Purpose

This newly designed space features a dedicated kitchen and dining room that offers delicious, nutritious, home-cooked meals tailored to individual dietary needs and personal preferences. Rotating menus reflect local favorites, resident requests, and seasonal produce. Whenever possible, residents are invited to participate in simple meal-related activities-such as sharing recipe ideas, helping with light prep, or baking a sweet treat-creating a sense of purpose and familiar routine. Small, family-style dining tables encourage conversation and connection-often a highlight for residents and visiting loved ones alike.

Memory Lane enrichment

Connection

Residents choose how they spend their days, from group activities like Bible studies, cooking clubs, and outings such as neighborhood strolls, scenic drives, or visits to local attractions. Each experience is designed to foster connection-whether it’s sharing stories around a table, working together on a project, or engaging in meaningful one-on-one interactions. Our research-driven enrichment approach emphasizes belonging, and time outdoors, supporting emotional wellbeing, better sleep, and overall quality of life.

Memory Lane garden

Coming Soon: Enclosed Memory Garden

A key aspect of the Memory Personal Care addition will include an enclosed memory garden, part of a fundraising initiative to create an outdoor enrichment space for residents living with dementia.

The garden will include a sensory garden, raised beds where residents can tend to herbs and vegetables, a meandering path, and a shaded spot for family and friends to visit.

Research shows that meaningful outdoor activity can stimulate the brain, helping to promote new connections, increase oxygen, and release endorphins. We look forward to this meaningful addition to our memory support neighborhoods.

What’s the difference between Memory Personal Care and Memory Lane?

Check out our FAQs

Memory Lane was so warm, welcoming, and friendly when my husband was a resident there. The activities were so thoughtful and inclusive, taking people back to memories of when they were young. My husband was happy and found so much purpose during his time there. It was also so meaningful for me – when he was in Memory Lane, I didn’t have to be a caregiver any longer and could enjoy just spending time with my spouse again.
