Preston Sharp was born and raised here in Big Valley, where he works as a financial advisor and part-owner of The Stewardship Group. After three years as the Board Vice President at Valley View, he began serving as the President this year. It is, he says, a natural way to give back to a community that has done so much for him.

“I recognize that the success of my life is so directly connected to those who came before me – my parents, my grandparents, and the community around me. Many people who impacted me are here at Valley View. I want to take care of them and allow future generations to benefit from what is here.”

Over the years, Preston has had loved ones and friends who have benefitted from the exceptional care at Valley View, but he was still struck when he observed firsthand how Valley View combines clinical expertise with heartfelt care.

“I immediately saw the scale of operations and logistics to provide all the levels of care while needing to maintain compliance, health and living needs to a vulnerable population,” he said. “Valley View strives and achieves a high level of care in all of those areas.”

He began serving on the board, just weeks before COVID swept the world, something he calls “an interesting and devastating time to be a part of.”

Now, five years later, he says that it feels good to be part of forward-thinking plans and renovations.
“It is nice to be on the journey rather than talking about the journey, implementing changes that will better utilize our facility to serve more people in even more ways.

As he and the rest of the board look forward to Valley View’s next chapter, he says that it’s with a deep understanding of the mission and values that have been carried on since Valley View’s beginning.

“At the end of the day, being here, being with your people and serving the greater community – it’s about mission and heart.”
