Meet VVRC’s new Chief Financial Officer
During Covid, Mindy Retherford’s father-in-law lived in Memory Lane at Valley View. Due to federal restrictions, visiting wasn’t allowed, but she watched as Valley View’s team worked tirelessly to help residents connect with their loved ones.
“My family and I all stood outside of my father-in-law’s window so we could visit with him,” she remembers. “I remember just watching everything that the team was doing to make residents feel safe and connected, and thinking, ‘These people really care.’”
So, when Mindy learned about the CFO position at Valley View, she felt led to apply. “There was already a family connection, and I could see that Valley View was a community-based environment that supported change and improvement.”
Mindy is a CPA with an MBA degree from Penn State University. She brings with her over 20 years of finance and accounting experience in various industries, including hospitality, construction, and manufacturing.
She and her husband Jason have two children, Rylee and Chase, and attend Mountain View Chapel in Reedsville. Her family is deeply involved in local youth sports, where both of her children have competed, and her husband has coached.
Her first few weeks at Valley View have been full and welcoming. “Everyone is so friendly,” she said. “The environment is very focused on relationship building. In some of my previous jobs, people didn’t take the time to make connections and the work did not seem fulfilling. Here at Valley View, it is so vital to focus on relationships and build trust to continue making this community successful. And when you can find a place where you can do good work, you benefit from it.”
In the end, she says that her new role as Valley View’s CFO is a calling. “I love helping people. It’s the same in this role: how can I help you be more successful?”
